Today began as one of those days. You know, those days, where every time you sit down to start something, the phone rings.
Funny enough, after the third phone call in an hour, I stopped thinking of the ringing as a bad thing. In fact, it was good. Really good.
The first phone call was a planned catch-up with a friend and fellow entrepreneur. We have monthly chats where, among other things, we vent frustrations, share success stories, and bounce ideas off one another. Both of us had entirely unexpected “eureka!” moments during today’s call, energizing us each to try something we hadn’t considered for our respective businesses.
The second call came, coincidentally enough, close on the first one’s heels. It was from yet another fellow entrepreneur, telling me she wanted to introduce me to a dynamic executive who organizes peer-to-peer events. In her estimation, she explained, this other business owner and I ran in the same professional circles, and absolutely needed to know each other. Within a half hour of us hanging up, that dynamic executive called me. And, within the first several minutes of our chat, we’d already discovered ways to leverage each other’s business acumen for a greater good.
By the time the phone rang yet again, barely after I’d scarfed down a quick sandwich, I was laughing to myself. What did the universe have in store this time?
Suffice it to say, it was good. Really good.
Bottom line: When your phone rings, answer it. You might just be surprised at what roads it leads you down.
